Important information for those who use Dexcom regarding the phasing out of G6 and plans to move to G7
During the next year, Dexcom will be saying goodbye to Dexcom G6 in the UK to focus on providing you with their latest technology, Dexcom G7. They will continue to support Dexcom G6 until you can access the same reimbursement and connectivity you currently have and their goal is to ensure your transition to Dexcom G7 is as smooth as possible.
Here are some FAQs from them to support you:
Do you use an insulin pump with Dexcom G6?
Dexcom understands the importance of seamless connectivity. Dexcom G7 will be compatible with their pump and pen partners before discontinuing Dexcom G6.
Will my insulin pump, pen and other connected devices be compatible with G7?
Dexcom have confirmed that specific connectivity timelines for each device will be communicated as soon as they're confirmed.
Who to contact if you have any questions?
If you have any questions Dexcom have asked to hold off contacting your clinical teams except in an emergency. Instead they ask that you contact your Dexcom transition team in the first instance as they are working with the clinical teams. However Dexcom do iterate that you will have the opportunity to discuss this transition with your clinical team at your next routine review.
How do I upgrade from Dexcom G6 to Dexcom G7?
Dexcom G7 offers all the benefits of Dexcom G6 plus new and improved features. Not only is the sensor smaller and more discreet, but it also has the fastest warm up on the market. It also offers a new mobile app with Dexcom Clarity Integration and exclusive features like Direct to Apple Watch.
Upgrading to Dexcom G7 is easy. You can speak with you diabetes team at your next appointment about upgrading to Dexcom G7. If you're using a connected insulin pump, please speak to your diabetes team about when you can upgrade to Dexcom G7.
Many thanks from all at Team DB :-)
