A message from ISPAD's President regarding COVID-19 for Children and Young People

Here is some further clarification from other countries on Type 1 Diabetes and COVID-19 for children and young people with thanks to Dr Fiona Campbell, Dr Partha Kar.

This is a message from ISPAD’s President regarding COVID-19 for Children and Young People:

The Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic is affecting all of us. This is a difficult time and constantly changing. We need to discard our fears, and remain logical, careful and calm. We need to stay on task, be responsible and encourage our patients. Pleasingly our colleagues in Italy and Middle East report that the children and adolescents with diabetes have not been adversely affected by infection, and many centers are using telemedicine for routine reviews rather than face to face consultations. Indeed just prior to ATTD in Madrid, there was a working party on “The Digital Clinic” led by Tadej Battelino and Moshe Phillip which was very timely.
